چکیده

In this paper we consider the numerical problems faced by a blind dereverberation algorithm based on a multi-channel linear prediction. One hypothesis frequently incorporated in multimicrophone dereverberation algorithms is that channels do not share common zeros. However, it is known that real room transfer functions have a large number of zeros close to the unit circle on the z-plane, and thus many zeros are expected to be very close to each other. Consequently if few microphones are used, the channels would present numerically overlapping zeros and dereverberation algorithms would perform poorly. We study this phenomenon using the previously reported LInearpredictive Multi-input Equalization (LIME) algorithm. Spatial information can be used to deal with the problem of overlapping zeros. We describe the improved dereverberation performance that we achieve by increasing the number of microphones.

A Blind Multichannel Dereverberation Algorithm Based on the Natural Gradient

This paper introduces a novel blind on-line dereverberation algorithm for speech signals based on a natural gradient deconvolution algorithm. Existing blind dereverberation algorithms often employ a structure that performs speech prewhitening using LPC analysis followed by a blind deconvolution step applied to the LPC residual. Here it is shown that better performance can be achieved by respect...

Iterated Delay and Predict Equalization for Blind Speech Dereverberation

In this paper, we consider the blind multichannel dereverberation problem for a single source. The multichannel reverberation impulse response is assumed to be stationary enough to allow estimation of the correlations it induces from the received signals. It is well-known that a single-input multi-output (SIMO) filter can be equalized blindly by applying multichannel linear prediction (LP) to i...

A Computationally Restrained and Single-channel Blind Dereverberation Method Utilizing Iterative Spectral Modifications

A computationally restrained, single-channel, blind dereverberation method is proposed. The proposed method consists of two iterative spectral modifications, which employs spectral subtraction for noise reduction, and a complementary Wiener filter for dereverberation. Modulation transfer function is employed to calculate the dereverberation parameters. Late reverberation is estimated without an...

Binaural semi-blind dereverberation of noisy convoluted speech signals

In order to overcome a limited performance of a conventional monaural model, this letter proposes a binaural blind dereverberation model. Its learning rule is derived using a blind least-squares measure by exploiting higher-order characteristics of output components. In order to prevent an unwanted whitening of speech signal, we adopt a semi-blind approach by employing a pre-determined whitenin...

Blind Adaptive Dereverberation of Speech Signals Using a Microphone Array

This paper describes a blind adaptive method for the dereverberation of speech/audio signals in a closed room environment based on the use of multiple microphones (two or more) by utilizing the second-order statistics of the reverberated speech signals only. The spatial diversity provided by the microphone array creates the equivalent of multiple channels, where each channel is the impulse resp...
